Biography
Hot Chip is a British band consisting of Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard, Owen Clarke, Al Doyle and Felix Martin. Their music can be described as electro-pop, they once described themselves as the 'bedroom neptunes' and their music combines a charming amateur and experimantal feel with the most informed pop sensibilities. Their debut album, Coming on Strong, was released in 2004. The band played the Reading and Leeds Festivals and the Summer Sundae festival in 2005, and are engaging in a North American tour in March 2006. They have had a top 40 single with the single 'Over and Over' and received plaudits for the video which was directed by Nima Nourizadeh. Their next single is 'Boy From School' originally titled 'And I Was A Boy From School' but deemed too 'un-catchy' by the marketing execs. They are expected to release their next album in May 2006. The band's 2003-04 domestic releases were on Moshi Moshi. They are now signed to EMI in the UK and DFA Records in the US.
