Long thought by the fan community to be a pseudonymn for a different voice actor, Nelson is actually a former drama student and London resident. He heard about auditions for the part of 2D through his friend Remi Kabaka, who provides Russel's voice. The voice he came up with for 2D was inspired by Joe Pasquale, Norman Wisdon, and David Beckham.
