Arguably the fourth (or third - see controversy over the Superfast Jellyfish release) single from Plastic Beach. It was designated (and officially announced) by Gorillaz' North American promo partners All Access as an 'Impacting Song' in June, with a promo release date of June 8th. Promos were only issued in North America, where it gained greater airplay than Superfast Jellyfish and On Melancholy Hill, but did not making any country's official overall chart. Only one officially-commissioned remix surfaced (using the official remix parts), the Boemklatsch remix, played live during Boemklatsch's summer 2010 DJ sets but otherwise unrleased.. A 'storyboard video' for the song premiered on the North American tour as live visuals for the song. With the announcement of Doncamatic as 'Gorillaz next' single' on the occasion of its premiere on 5th October 2010, Rhinestone Eyes' status as Gorillaz' next single was thrown into doubt. Currently it's not known if the Rhinestone Eyes video will be completed, and an official video is being made for Doncamatic. The song was also performed by the band during Gorillaz 2010 Letterman appearance, during their 2010 tour. |
