Clint Eastwood (Ed Case Refix)
| Damon Albarn wanted to put a few mixes of certain tracks from the debut album together and put it out on a white label promo in late 2000, to drum up interest in his new project in an underground way. Damon is a fan of the UK Garage scene, saying some of his favourite singles of 2001 were 'all the on-off garage singles' and also appearing alongside garage artists at the 2000 Notting Hill Carnival in London for impromptu collaborations. Ed Case was then an obvious choice for Damon's white label promo (this promo is listed in the discography in the Clint Eastwood single section, as the first track on the promo was the Ed Case Refix, and this was the track that got massive interest in the UK). Ed Case got Sweetie Irie in to do a sort of half rap, half skank over the top. The result is a slightly faster paced tune, in keeping with UK Radio's love of all things garage (at least in 2000/2001). It was a huge radio success and far, far more played than 'Clint Eastwood' itself. Its success induced Damon to add the remix to the running order of the debut album Gorillaz, originally as a hidden unlisted bonus track after the closer 'M1A1'. Most fans seem to prefer Del's version, and this remix does lack some of the depth of the original track, but it is definitely the more danceable of the two and an interesting introduction to another style of music through Gorillaz. |

Live
Clint Eastwood was played live at every date on the Phase One shows, but the Ed Case Refix was only performed once at a Gorillaz concert. Sweetie Irie took the vocals and Ed Case was on the decks (along with four dancing girls) to give a rendition of the remix at the first Gorillaz gig, at the London Scala, from one of the Scala balconies. Ed Case and Sweetie Irie have also performed the song together away from Gorillaz shows (including when they performed at nightclubs in mid 2001, cheekily advertising these appearances as by 'Gorillaz'.

Lyrics:
Bu-whoa
I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
It's coming on
Ah ah ah ah
Oh, you wanna live like [...]
Feel my emotion
I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
It's coming on
Oh, you wanna make no flow
I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
It's coming on
It's a bigger o'ting
Feel my emotion
Oh, you wanna make no flow
I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
It's coming on
