Ghost Train
| A definite fan favourite, often coming high in fan polls. The song samples the Human League's 'Sound Of The Crowd' (its pulsating backbeat - it's not a small borrowing, it's impossible not to listen to 'Sound Of The Crowd' as a Gorillaz fan and not exclaim 'but that's Ghost Train!', hence the joint songwriting credit). However the song succeeds on its own merits as a singalong rocker. Dr.Wurzel (invention of the Gorillaz creators who had 'his own' website) said it was 'the first Gorillaz recording' - there may be some truth in this, and perhaps Ghost Train dates from the first Gorillaz sessions. The lyrics are actually fairly interesting (quite rare for a Gorillaz track) although some are so incomprehensible they defied fan lyric transcribers for years. |

Here they come to steal my soul (Ghost train)
She was not to hear about me leaving (Ghost train) Yeah yeah yeah (Ghost train)
Got suicide for my baby (Ghost train)
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah (Ghost train)
I see myself pretend how to get there (Ghost train)
Come on come on come on! (Ghost train)
Got suicide for my baby (Ghost train)
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah (Ghost train)
I see myself pretend how to get there (Ghost train) [Deep vocal, heavy reverb, incomprehensible]
