Hongkongaton
| Well, folks, revel in the semi-glory of the only true blue original song to come out of the Dirty Harry EP. It begins with some slurping/sucking/smacking noises, courtesy of Jamie Hewlett. Why, you ask? Because Jamie Hewlett is all about the cock, obviously! In style, Hongkongaton has nothing in common with the other song that came from its session, Hong Kong. It features a boom-shuck polka riff on the piano, some neat, distorted, whispery vocals from Damon, and dub horns and bass. It’s reggae at the core, and a fine track for chilling out to. It’s interesting that Damon only really bothered to write one lyric for the song, but Danger Mouse’s production keeps things pretty fresh and interesting throughout. It’s an easily digested mixture of Don Quixote psychedelica, Space Monkey dub, and ambient noise. It may not pack much of a punch, and as a B-side, I wouldn’t call it incredibly memorable. But it goes on my iTunes, and there it will stay. Sure thing. - Wazawaii |
