Mr Softy's Balloon Race
| Just as in 'All Alone', this song features great influences by 80's video games. It was one of the first tracks from Phase Two. It made a good impression of Gorillaz's new style. People had fallen for the cheap drum machine, the electronic beeps and Damon's sensitive lyrics. The name is based upon Mr. Softy: some kind of symbol for soft ice. And the name has to do with old video games, including balloons and race tracks. Together with 'Mix 2' and other songs, this was just some track laying around that got placed on Gorillaz.com by coincicdance. Concerning if 'Mr softy's Balloon Race' is a polished song, Noodle replied to me: "I do not polish tracks as I find you can wipe away the soul." Which is a nice way to not clear up anything at all. |
