Not a full single as such, Gorillaz issued a 10 inch vinyl of White Flag as part of Record Store Day 2010, which took place on April 17th 2010. Record Store Day is an iniative whereby each year on one day, artists contribute special releases to only be sold in independent record stores worldwide. Controversy exists over how many were pressed with official sources giving contradictory information, some saying as low as 100 or 300 copies, another saying 1000 copies. From fan reports and availability, it seems at least 1000 were pressed, very possibly more. White Flag does also have the distinction of being the only song other than Superfast Jellyfish to be uploaded to Gorillaz' Youtube, initially uploaded on 27 February but kept private until well after the official streams of the album in full were already available. The graphic used for the Youtube video used the same 'Gorillaz White Flag' text and colours, but not the camels. |
