Grateful When You're Dead was the band's second single, released in the UK on 24 April 1996 where it became their first top 40 hit, reaching #35 in the charts. Like all the band's first 6 singles, it was reissued in the UK on 28th July 1997 with the same catalogue number as the first release. In Japan, Grateful When You're Dead was the band's first release, where it was released as a 6-track EP-length single featuring Bsides taken from the band's first four UK singles. The Japanese release also had a different cover to releases in the rest of the world - the second image above is the Japanese cover, which was based on the cover to Tattva (Lucky 13 Mix).
